Oh, so this is what I beta tested? Interesting, I did not like them when I initially tried them, so I’ll steer clear. Glad to hear they are working out well for some of you - great to have more choices on the market!

Nah, not for me - thin and tinny-sounding. Took them off this morning and put on a set of the Elixir PB Nanos that I usually use on the Lowdens - immediate improvement.

Aa-a-and....breathe!

The usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc.
Uh oh. I bought a set today, but 13-56. I was going to put them on my Avalon L2-320, but now I don't know. I have a set of GHS True Mediums PBs and a set of Pierre Bensusan DADGAD strings as well that I can use. I have used both of these strings before on the Avalon and really liked them. Maybe I'll put them on, but not trim the ends in case they aren't a match for this guitar. I can always put them on the Larrivee which tolerates different strings better.

Default Tried a set on my 000-18

I replaced a set of the 2.0 PB martins that had been on for a couple of weeks.
At this point I'm not a fan.
The low E seemed to not have as much punch, and the High E also was lacking.
The mids on this guitar weren't bad.
All in all , I don't like them.
I tried the PB 12s

I was a beta tester too and I received my free strings on Friday. I’ll be putting them on my new Martin 000-15M Streetmaster. I really liked those beta strings and I havent generally been a fan of Daddario’s uncoated strings in the past. The packaging sure is impressive and elaborate.

Another Beta tester here. They must be shipping from the West, as I don't have mine yet. I will try them on my FGX5 as it's due for a new set soon.

I put the 12’s on my Yamaha FS-TA. They sound and feel great. Huge improvement over their standard fare. Don’t throw the packaging away as there’s a code for 200 Players Circle points!

I did a quick demo here. They sound and feel fine. I don't feel or hear anything abnormal or above normal. Let's see how long they last.

I really like them. They might become my new go-to in favor of Santa Cruz.

Update after 4 days:

I put these new XT lights (12-53) on my Gibson J15 and after 4 days and approximately 3 hours of playing I have to say they are sounding really GREAT!

Initially I thought they sounded just a bit harsh like every other D'Addario set of strings I've used. But these started out a bit more resonant. Now, after around 3 hours of "playing in" I can say they have mellowed beautifully and have replaced the harsh sound with even more resonate tones.

Under heavy strumming my J15 has very pronounced mids, which doesn't bother me, but with these new strings, I'm not noticing as much. Whether it's because of actually less mid tone being produced or more bass and treble I can't say.

The end result is I may have found my new favorite strings for my J15.

If you haven't tried these yet and are looking for some new strings to try, I would humbly suggest you give the new XT a try. Give them a couple days and you might also find your new favorite strings.

Best,
PJ

Put them on my Larrivee last night...

Me likey!

Totally, in keeping with what I’d expect from a D’Addario PBs. I noticed they sound more akin to EJ than EXP, which tend to be a little darker to my ears. They are definitely more slinky and smoother in feel, which I quite like.

Time will tell on the longevity side, but I’m definitely liking what I’m hearing.

The old EXP strings never lasted very long for me.
On 2 occasions, I only got one night of gigging with them.
It was like they were regular uncoated strings.
I moved on to Martin Lifespan strings and love them.

I hope these new EXP strings will last longer.
I'm willing to give them a try.

I put the XT PB Lights on my Artist Deluxe a couple of days ago and I really like them. Almost as bright as the EJ16's with almost as good a feel. I'll be very interested in how long they last. If they last like the EXP's then I wonder if D'Addario will even keep EXP's around? I don't play out or gig any, but I could regularly get 3+ months of use out of the EXP's on my most frequently used guitars so that might total up to 50+ hours easily.

I beta tested a set of light gauge on my D-18 last year and they were great. I just got a free set of mediums in the mail this week and I’m going to put them on my HD-28.

For me, the beta test pack of PBs lasted longer than the EXPs so I think that they just might depending on your playing time and skin chemistry.

Jayne
