I could see buying a nice 2020 model in 2026. That's the way I roll!
They do look great the previous or current gen look awesome too. I bought a 2006 GTO brand new and I had three kids after that and sold it but it was the fastest car I had ever driven. I couldn't imagine how much fun these Corvettes would be to drive.

All the more reason I treasure my 2010 Mazda MX5 that ran ten grand last December. The giggles per dollar quotient is very high...

A good friend of mine from high school has risen up the ranks and is now one of the top engineers at GM - I saw a mutual friend over the weekend and he told me Doug pulled into one of the Detroit area dealerships service department with his 2020 Vette and the mechanics were all freaking out.
I've never been a fan of the Vette, but that one certainly has a pretty undeniable appeal. I could never afford/justify such a thing, but it's nice to look at. I'll stick to my pocket rocket Honda turbo that gets 45 mpg! And Brucebubs - I'll take the NSX every day of the week! (always been a "dream" car)

Other than the engine, they were pretty much the same car. In 1986, the Celica went to front wheel drive and the Supra remaained a rear wheel drive car.

Coming out of a stop light, the Scirroco was lightning quick...it had an impressive 1st and 2nd gear. I think the old Rabbit might have had the same drivetrain?

How about the new EV Lotus:
It's only 2000 HP, has a range of about 270 miles, and can charge in 20 minutes. Who wants one? It's a teeny bit more than $60k though.

I would guess its the same combined EPA / European range test that all EVs use to state range. Kind of like MPG tests. You can get better or worse than stated, depending on how you drive but there has to be a baseline.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but...
Driving a 'Vette, a Porsche, or any other supercar on the streets is like hauling a hundred-watt Marshall stack to play a wine bar at brunch. Just so much excess capability sitting idle. And how many guitars cases can you fit in a mid-engined 'Vette, has anybody checked.
I'm old enough to remember when ordinary cars were so slow and sloppy that you needed a "sports car" to stay awake. Those were the days, with 100 hp in a car weighing less than a ton! But now that minivans and hybrids can outperform those 'Vettes of yore, I'm just ... not... interested... (snore)...

I long for my 1962 Studebaker Lark "Daytona". Not one car passed me (Even the Corvettes) between Detroit and the Breezewood exit in Pennsylvania, "back in the day" when I was fighting the war out in Maryland, 22 mpg too!
Oh yeah, along with that Studebaker,-------, I also long to be 24 again! Fog |

My neighbor just sold his Nissan sports car. He said he looked like a wounded ape getting out of it. That kind of ruins the whole sports car image doesn't it?
