There has been a series of free concerts every weekend in the evening @ Parksville beach park - very expansive low tide sand & clean - in Canada.
Last evening it was “Completely Creedence” CCR tribute band, tight accurate renditions of John Fogerty classics but bass drum dominated PA mix detracted from the enjoyment. Previous evening was an Irish Celtic band - I missed the name but it was the best live music I’ve heard in a long while - excellent singing, harmonies, fiddle, Gibson J-45 acoustic - good musicians with clear arrangements of some old traditional songs. Fleetwood Mac “Everywhere” from the album “Tango in the Night” (1987), written by Christine McVie; project started out as a solo album by Lindsey Buckingham. My two heroes of this group.

I have Billy Joel's New York State of Mind playing in my head right now. Otherwise I'm not listening to anything.

I started noodling around on a version of Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm by the Crash Test Dummies a couple of days ago so I've had them in heavy rotation lately.

I was just listening to that two days ago. I really enjoyed that album. It never got the acclaim of some of their others, but it had some great tunes.

I just got and have been listening to "Here If You Listen" by David Crosby and the Lighthouse Band. It is some of the most original and interesting new music I have heard in a long time. Both acoustic and electric stuff, but all very tasteful, with wonderful vocals and terrific harmonies.
There was a thread on what David Crosby is doing these days and that got me interested in the album. I bought the CD directly from David Crosby's website HERE. I am loving this album! - Glenn

Just got into Mike Dawes. Running the amazon music playlist on him.
Also checking out Boyce Avenue....they're pretty decent. |

Dusted off "Kid A" by Radiohead. Such a brave and transformative album from a band that found themselves burned out on the alt-rock circuit of the late 1990s. They literally set down their guitars in exchange for synths, effects pedals, and loopers... and turned everything on its head. What a brilliant way to begin the 21st century! The chord progression of this opening track has always pulled me into a dream-like state. "Everything In Its Right Place."
