Takamine. I've had one for I think 8 years and done nothing to it but restring it and play it. Solid as a rock, plays great, sounds great.

When I was looking for a 12 string, I played about everything offered in town. I kept coming back to the Takamine GJ72CE.

I did play the GD30CE, but jumbo caught my fancy.

I have owned the guitar four years coming up on five. The only thing I have done is change strings. Elixir really brings the soul out on these guitars.

The Taka is available now, and a bit cheaper (£379), at GuitarGuitar. The Angelico has a three month or so wait. I'd chose the Taka. Whilst I like a bit of bling, the Angelico is a bit too much - especially since the cost of finishing reduces what's left for guitar sound. And if you can't bond with the Taka, send it back within 14 days. You'll only lose postage, ... I think.

Yeah, that was my first 12-string in the modern era. It was good. It inspired me to get a Guild. Of course, U.S.-made Guilds are going to be too expensive, but Chinese-made Guilds are darn good and inexpensive. I recently picked up an all solid mahogany Guild GAD D125-12, mainly because it was less than $400, with case, and man, it looks and sounds great for that kind of money!

Ooooh am jealous of that all mahogany Guild baby. Very nice indeed. I was looking at the all mahogany Ibanez and was sorely tempted just because of all that luverly mahogany. But it was a cheapy and Ive had ibanez before - ok, but ultimately...meh.

So I've ordered my Takamine....Takamine will be Tak-a-all-mine.…y! I have 5 yr old Christmas excitement now! Funny how purchase of a nice guitar turns one into a small child again!
Now what to call it? "Meanie" springs to mind but a bit obvious. 😁

Hi, just wanted to thank you all. I bought the Takamine and have to say it is a really nice instrument . Feels very solid & good quality.
I never really understood about instrument "scale" but this one is quite compact, which isn't a bad thing.
It had obviously been used in the shop a fair bit (you could see marks on the scratch plate - just the protective film so no problem) - it was reduced price to reflect that - but the phosphor bronze strings were dead. So restrung with my fave daddario 80/15s as I like my 12 strings jangly & crunchy and that really brought it to life. It gives you that dreamlike sound you can really get lost in, if you know what I mean.
It arrived next day which really surprised me - well packaged etc etc so generally, all good! Thank you all for your input and advice. ✌️😀

Which Takamine did you get. GJ72CE, GD30CE? Or did the candy shop get the best of you and you got a professional series?

Yes indeedy. I owned and played a CPX-700 twelve-string for a couple of years and was blown away by how good the pickup/mic system sounded thru a PA system. Absolutely stellar tone with the preamp EQ set dead-flat. A true plug-and-play instrument with no hassles whatsoever

The only reason I sold that guitar was the neck width, especially at the nut - just a little bit too narrow for my fat fingers. If Yamaha started making these, or something similar, with a wider neck I'd get one in a heartbeat

I have the Guild D1212. I specifically bought it because it’s solid mahogany top, back and sides. I was surprised at the quality considering it’s made in China.

Congratulations. This thread inspired me to pick up my Guild I recently purchased. I let it sit untouched for about two months and was thinking about selling it. Now I pick it up everyday. I'm not sure why I didn't take to it right away.
