My "get off my lawn" moment is the term "dropped" as in the movie drops in June. I don't know why it bugs me but it does.

I actually like 'side-hustle'. When I was cramming on all-things retirement that phrase was prominent in nearly every book and article I read. And now that we're retired, we turned our gigging into our retirement side-hustle.

You're all a bunch of old fogeys. And no, I won't get off your lawn!!

Hustle and/or hustler were always connected to a person or action that was not looked upon as wholesome. I think that’s why side hustle doesn’t sit well with me.

In the early 80’s the printing world, especially more expensive magazines, began using new cover page designs that were high shine, almost wet looking that the industry insiders referred to as “slick” cover stock. I recommended binders to my boss for our product displays, explaining we needed these new “slick” covered binders and he said “we don’t deceive our customers”.

SLICK at the time was a word associated with something not on the up and up. My boss thought I was trying to hustle our customers in some way…….funny how the world is sometimes.

I think this is the best way to look at it.

I find myself looking up a lot of expressions on Google to figure out what people mean. But I really work at not getting upset at it all. We had our time to come up with stupid words in our day. I never used them then, either.

I just thought of another cutesy word I despise that’s been around for a while.

“dishes”

On todays show. Stephen A. Smith dishes on the state of college football.
I’m sorry but gag me and get off my lawn.

So, how much can you make without messing with your Social Security?

No special forms, just file your taxes like normal and if it's below a certain number, your ss is un-interupted?

The answer is yes, if you’re fully retired, you can make up to a certain amount which is designates by SS. That number is $15,720. If you earn over that,SS deducts $2 in SS earnings for every dollar you go over the limit.
There’s more to it. It’s on the SS website.

Correction : SS takes $1 for $2 over the $15,720…I had it backwards.

In my mom & dad's day if you dropped an album it would shatter into a million pieces.

yep there is more to it.

like if one waits for FRA (Full Retirement Age) they won't touch your payouts no matter what you earn.

But the IRS? that's a horse of a different color.

I know, I'm patiently waiting for FRA so I can get off the hamster whell

Hang in there Ray, I reached FRA in December of last year and await my first check from my Uncle Sam in about two weeks. Off wheel living is great fun!

I trust you’re good with “cool” then. A non-stupid word that we came up with?
That’s a word that seemed to pass the test of time… until it didn’t.😉
