You can contact Tom Kruszka <[email protected]> at Alvarez. This is his email address. He is a great guy and very helpful. If he doesn't have the answer he know who will!

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

I believe the F stands for a factory in China, and the 9 is 2009, but you should email the Alvarez guy just to make sure. If that is an RD210SB you are looking at, I wouldn't pay more than $300 or so for it, and that would be with a hardshell case. That's an all-laminated guitar, and it's not bad, but if somebody is asking $500-$600 for it, that's way overpriced, in my judgment.

I wouldn't pay that much for it ... but that's only because I just won't buy a guitar without at least a solid top. I'm familiar with many Alvarez guitars but not that one. But the RD is a so-called "student level/beginner" guitar and this one would appear to have, as you said, all laminated construction. the "SB" just means it has a sunburst finish.

Some RD guitars, the older ones, are good guitars. I have an RD20S which sounds and plays great. It has a solid spruce top and I bought it and a hardshell case for $100 .. but that was a rare bargain.

As for the dating process, I still don't understand the system so I just call Tom at Alvarez or send him an email. I've dealt with him for several years and he has been quick and polite and informative. In fact for the first time I spoke to him yesterday about an older Alvarez I saw posted online and he cleared up a question I had about its specs (listing said all solid construction but this guitar had a laminated side but solid top and back.)
