From my research this is not a good idea. There will be impedance mismatch and all kinds of other potential nastiness.

We are frequently challenged with too few inputs on the mixer with our bluegrass band. The PA owner has tried just that a few times. It basically cuts the output of each mic in half when you do that. If you can overcome that with the gain on the channel (and turning down the gain on the other channels to balance everything out) it can work after a fashion. Not ideal though.
