Working with stone has been a learning experience.
I know that working with stone has to be very challenging--different densities, hardnesses, rates of expansion and contraction, compensating for sanding levels, and on and on.

I talked Mike Baranik into using malachite on a custom build for me. His parting comment when I picked up the guitar from him was:

You'd better take really good care of this guitar 'cause I'm never doing that again!"

Nicely done, John!

Smile Grateful….

Happy Thanksgiving to all

Just a friendly bump to say how very grateful I am for John’s awesome custom builds!

I continue to be floored by the tone, VOLUME when whacked, ergonomics and playability! And they sound lovely played softly with bare fingers too.

I am sure this will be killer too. Eagerly awaiting more….

Cheers

Paul

Happy Thanksgiving right back at you Paul. I gave thanks for this guitar at the dinner table today. John is really working his magic on it.

Well I give thanks for all the kind remarks.

A special thanks to my brother Steve who gave me some scraps of "The Tree" to inlay into all the bevels (3) on this guitar.
We originally thought it might be good to let Tony fade them in and out of the ebony binding but the stand alone shape is growing on me.

Default BR/LS 000 build thread.

The wood & appointment combination is outrageous! Lucky Strike Redwood, Brazilian Rosewood, The Tree Mahogany, The Fiddleback Tree Mahogany, Purpleheart, Lapis Lazuli …

What an exquisite build for a very lucky guy!!!

Thank you sir. This is consumer driven so Tory gets a lot of the credit.

Default A rump view

The lapis will surround a strap peg when it's all finished.

Smile

A slow reveal. It's because I'm slow

The lapis will fade in and out on the back strip. It looks rather abrupt at present

John has been incredible to work with. Not only has he incorporated all my ideas and wants, he has improved upon them. I have really appreciated his guidance.
Once Tony has applied his magic, and John attaches the wonderful neck and head stock he’s working on, I believe I will have my lifetime guitar.
It will be awhile to come back from Tony but totally worth the wait.
A big Thank You to everyone who has been making such wonderful comments about “The Hippo”. Lol I’m certainly anxious to wrap my arms around it.
Thank you John!
