Fingerpicking compatible coverplate (for Gretsch Alligator)
The more my technique progresses, the more I find myself hindered by the coverplate on my Alligator that rises when getting closer to the saddle. My fingers hit the coverplate more and more often when playing high notes on the upper strings, which require to play closer to the bridge, esp. when using rest strokes.
My plate also has marks from the rare times I use a pick. I appreciate the domed nature of the cover as it allows me to jack up the strings with a simple pencil, making adjusting the compensation a breeze. But I'm daydreaming of a version that has some sort of trough or even an opening under the strings so my fingertips have a bit more space. Does such a thing exist, or how would you make something like this from a standard cover plate?
