Default '81 Limited Hohner HG-805 Spec's/History

This is not to be confused with the HG-805 model as it has several upgrades.

Getting the history and specs on the 805 is like pulling hen's teeth. Getting info on this Limited edition is worse. I have the serial number which was printed on the receipt but it's worthless. I've read that these 805 Hohners were built in Japan at the Terada factory were Ibanez were building the George Benson. The Hohner 805 and Ibanez GB-10 are very similar guitars.

I purchased this guitar from the original owner. He was told by the guitar shop ( which is still in business) when he purchased it in 1981 that Hohner only built 14 of these Limited guitars.

I was told that Hohner was dabbling in the higher end guitar market in the late '70's to mid '80's (they ultimaly gave up in the mid '80's). I know for a fact that the list price for the HG-805 was $950. The list price for George Benson BG- 10 was $1050 and a Gibson L-5 was $1,200 in 1980. The HG-805 was not a cheap guitar.
