Default donating guitars

Anyone know of the best place to donate old guitars. These are laminate beaters still playable.

I've donated several times to the local school district and high school - they actually have a website set up by the "parents of...." that allows you to schedule a pickup, etc. Maybe check with the music department of your local HS or school district?

Also "Guitars for Vets" is a good program. Plenty of places to donate your old guitars and they'll be happy to have them!

I also recommend youth groups. Just donated a few guitars to a friend who has a youth music group.

I asked the same question about my Sigma when I first joined up
here. Schools and Vets were the same suggestions then...

This was before the late unpleasantness... I went into the
front office at the nearby high school and told them I wanted to
donate this guitar to some kid who might not otherwise have one.
They hooked me up with (the music director? ... somebody). I
gave him the guitar and assume it went somewhere useful...

Absolutely. They also can use good volunteer teachers too!

You might also check Facebook. There are at least a couple of groups (Guitars to kids, Guitars for kids) that help kids get a guitar. You might be able to find a local group that takes donated guitars.

I gave one to a local children's shelter. I gave another (much better) one to an old bandmate who had fallen on hard times. I gave a third one to an old friend who was having health issues and needed a smaller guitar just so he could play. If you start to look seriously, there is any number of deserving people or organizations. Depending on the organization, you could even get a tax write-off.

I built 4 kit guitars for fun - donated all of them to the local high school music department.
