Default D-18s at Emerald City Guitars

On the advice of a previous post, I went to Emerald City Guitars in Seattle while I was there last week. I noticed that they had 3 1967 D-18s. When I asked the salesperson, he said you should have been here last week. Apparently, they had sold several more (I did not get specifics). Well, last night while playing with some friends I commented on this only to notice that one of them was playing a 1967 D-18.

I really don't have a point to this thread only that I've seen more 1967 D-18s in one week than I have since 1967.

Jim, this is a good story.
Did you happen to play any of the D-18s guitars?
I don't think I have ever seen one...that I know of!
Isn't 1967 a "good" year for Martins?
There was one year that they switched bridge plates or something like that.
The 1960 era D-18 guitars that I run into during my GAS journies tend to have repaired cracks somewhere on the back or side.

That is weird, so many same year guitars.

So, how did they sound?

Old Martins vary wildly in quality. There are great ones to be had from the 60s but as always, play before you pay.

I must admit that I did not play any of them. I was looking for a OOO and a parlor and as I have a 69 D-18 that I really like, I didn't make the effort. In retrospect, I should have played them all. Only one had significant repairs and it was priced accordingly. None looked as good as my 69.
