Default 2010 Gwaltney Sinker Redwood/Cocobolo 000-13

In 2010 I worked with Greg Gwaltney out of Georgia to build a custom guitar. Greg was well known on the Acoustic Guitar Forum and built instruments that rival the best guitars. He learned his craft from Ervin Somogyi, a master guitar builder. Pics included are current and from Greg during the building process. Sadly Greg has taken a break from building as he became allergic to some of the woods he was working with, so this is truly a collectors instrument.

*Sinker Redwood Top - known for its rich and warm sound sinker redwood soundboards are sliced from huge old-growth redwood logs reclaimed from the depths of Northern California rivers, where they've lain in many cases for more than a century. The tops typically display a rich spectrum of variegation, the result of colors uniquely imparted from silt and the mineral-rich water. The age and size of these trees translates into a tight grain with nice cross-grain stiffness, so it will tend to have a fairly bold response, with a brilliance complemented by warm overtones similar to cedar.
*Cocobolo back and sides, fretboard & Headplates - stunningly beautiful rich woods
*Maple Bindings - beautiful accent to the Cocobolo
*Cantilevered Five Piece Neck - floating neck design increases vibration of sound board. Carbon fiber rods inside the body provide support for this unique design. Also used by McPhearson Guitars
*Sound Ports - nothing compares to playing a guitar with sound ports as the sound envelopes you.
*Gloss mirror finish from one of the best Joe White.

Just had neck adjusted and guitar setup as well as new saddle & glue reinforcement for the bridge.

I am selling this magnificent work of art for what I paid for it with much hesitancy as I love this guitar but rarely play these days and it needs attention! I won't be guitar less though as I have a 1978 Guild that I equally love!

Oh man I so wish I could. I have one of his early guitars and am quite fond of it; I'm sure this is as glorious as it is gorgeous.

Smile Nice one!

Looks like double sides, too. Makes the sides super rigid and sends more vibrations to the top.

Does this have more than one sound port? Or is that a typo?

Best on the sale! Hope you don't miss it too much!!!

Paul

I owned two Gwaltney guitars years ago.

They were extremely well built, played easily and sounded awesome. Really good looking also.

Bump for a beauty! This one has some serious mojo going for it, not to mention the natural sunburst that nature contributed! GLWS!

A start of the weekend bump. I own a mate to this guitar. Well built. Fit and finish is outstanding. Beautiful sound.

Good luck with the sale.
