Hi John, thanks for checking out the thread.

My soundboard bracing pattern is designed to distribute the stiffness very evenly across the entire top, transferring the string energy into the movement of air as efficiently as possible. I want the soundboard to move as a single unit much like a speaker cone. The bass response created by the large movements of air in the centre of the top and the trebles from small movements near the edge.

I just received these photos from the fine folks at Vancouver Guitar Finishing. This one will be ready fir the Vancouver International Guitar Festival with plenty of time to spare.

The colour of the the soundboard appears a bit more yellow in this photo, but It’s actually magnificently creamy as it’s top grade Italian spruce.

It’s funny, Indian rosewood is so commonly used that I sometimes forget how beautiful it is.

With the body on its way back to the shop I though I’d better get some finish on the neck. I’m using eco-poxy to achieve a semigloss look.

The rear veneer was cut from the back of the neck blank prior to shaping, I made sure the grain was oriented to match the neck.

Thanks! I think it’ll become my standard when I don’t ebonize the neck. I’m smitten with how it turned out.

Hey folks, I haven’t spent much time on the forum lately, been busy in the shop and the garden. Here’s an update on the show guitars. The rosewood is for the Vancouver show, the maple for summer NAMM and The Boutique Guitar Showcase tour.

And the Ebano fingerboard for the rosewood guitar.
