Default Fretboard Journal musings about the Memphis Acoustic Guitar Festival

Hello, all.

My Fretboard Journal piece about the Memphis Acoustic Guitar Festival is now posted here.

I had a fabulous time at the Festival. It was a pleasure meeting some of you.

John

Thanks for sharing that! I enjoy your writing very much (the Kalamazoo book and the Lichty build series!). Great to see a small sampling of the amazing work of all these luthiers.

I regret not going: I imagine it will never be this uncrowded again.

Great article, John, and I love the guitars you presented. That Doerr is now my ultimate dream guitar - I dearly wish I had been able to play it!

It must have been impossible to choose what to feature in your article. There were so many amazing guitars there. I wish I could have gone.

Thanks for the field reporting. I was very close to attending. Next year!

I am happy to report that Tom's black Maple beauty is destined for Woodstock, IL

As anyone who attended can tell you, I omitted many more great instruments than I identified.

It's surprising how little documentation there was of Julius' work by festival attendees. Good to see his OM-18 made the list. He's such a great builder. Thanks for sharing your lovely article, John!
