I remember $350 from LMI feeling outrageous, it was the same price they were selling Brazilian for in 1992. Very nice Brazilian. I still think I made the right choice.

Default Moving On

Now that I've got the sides in good shape I can move on. Here I am gluing up the neck and end blocks as well as the wedge that supports the point of the cut away;

As that dries I am doing the final cuts and clean up for the back so it will be ready for assembly;

Happy New Year Everyone!
Mark

I'm working to get the body closed up this week, Here is the kerfing going on and the back getting glued up;

I spent most of the day voicing the top. I already have it thinned to target and the basic bracing is glued up. I work the braces to get the most tone and volume that I can. It's a slow process, cut a little, tap a little. Today was a perfect day for this job. It's snowing and I'm sure those of you who have or have had a Northern point of view would know the peaceful silence that comes with a good snow;

And I love voicing cedar! It's such an eager participant.

Mark

"Sometimes" the best tool for the job is just whatever is at hand

That is absolutely, eye-dazzlingly spectacular. In fact, Mark, you can't call her "Greta". Rather, something more like Countess Von Rothschild or Yvette Babette L'Amour or Madame X.

Thanks everybody! The figure on this set really does just suck you in. I have to remind myself to stop staring and get some work done on it. So far it's been a pleasure to work with but, I have done everything I could to facilitate that. I haven't had to repair any cracks and as you'll see later the book matched sides have lined up quite nicely, especially where they meet at the end graft.

Thanks for following along!
Mark
