Thanks Kevin. I'm quite fond of it too. My heart is split between this one and the "Stained Glass" rosette on my current Maple guitar build.

Thank you,Michael. You know...it's really not that far from the UK to the Gulf Coast...you should swing by the shop some time

Thanks Paul. If I may ask out of curiousity, what is the meaning behind your username?

Default Two Hands Guitar Co...Cocobolo/Tunnel-14

Steve's been traveling for the past week, so I've been working in the shop by myself. I didn't anticipate that it would be a big deal, but it's been kind of lonely. He's been working here in the shop with me, from the very beginning; and I'm appreciating his presence even more...now that I'm experiencing his absence.

How about some more pictures.....

IMG_2834.jpg
The cross-braces and upper cross-brace have been glued in and shaped...as have the soundhole reinforcement ring, 3-layer bridge plate, and center-seam reinforcements. Here you see the final braces being glued in using the go-deck...

IMG_2835.jpg
Here’s a closeup view...

IMG_2844.jpg
And a low-profile view...
A bit of history...I used 3 “fan braces” in the lower bout, on my first two builds...Tim McKnight saw the pictures, and contacted me to suggest that I use 4 (for particular reasons based on his experience...and the experience of Paul Reed Smith). I shared this information with Steve, and we decided together, that we would integrate Tim’s suggestions into our bracing architecture.

IMG_2848.jpg
The back brace ends are mortised into the rims, and the back has been glued...also, you can see the mortises are cut to receive the top brace ends...

IMG_2849.jpg
The cutaway has been taken from the top...and the upper cross brace fitted to the side and kerfed lining...

IMG_2854.jpg
I hope that they fit into place correctly...

IMG_2855.jpg
Whew!!!...that’s a relief...

Thanks for following along, folks.

joel

One of the more enjoyable processes, for me, is cutting and setting my logo into the headstock...

IMG_0984.jpg
All pieces are cut by hand out of Abalone blanks...

IMG_2946.jpg
I then lay them face down, on my pattern, so that I can “capture them” as a singular unit with clear tape.

IMG_2947.jpg
I temporarily glue it to the plate, etch around the perimeter, then remove it so that I can excavate the cavities to fit the pieces into.

IMG_2948.jpg
A little ebony dust and superglue to fill the micro-voids...and it ends up looking like this.

Thank you Tom. I hope that it’s memorable...and that it’s “identifiable.”

Well...she’s now in “finishing”, and will soon be hanging for a few weeks before I get to sand and polish. Here are some “in-the-white” photos, taken prior to sealing and pore-filling...
