Cool video is right.

Ick!

In 1979, I worked for the Fargo Health Department's mosquito patrol.

Back then, in North Dakota, the mosquitoes weren't carrying many of the disease today's pests do. I recall talk about malaria, but not in northern and non tropical climates.

Those things would eat me every day. It got so after work, once I had showered, the welts were gone and itching subsided. Maybe built a tolerance/resistance.

But they are gross. The larvae and pupa are gross. The adults are parasites of the worst order.

Males don't bite and have fuzzy proboscises. But they are still awful creatures.

There. I got that out after all these years.

I am not a fan of animals with exoskeletons at all.

Often I intentionally leave some standing water near the house.
I strain out the larvae, rinse them, and feed them to my tropical fish.

Then I watch with glee as the evil little wigglers are devoured. LOL.
Free nutritious fish food.
I'm so bad.

Clever!

We've been using these mosquito traps for three or four years:

https://www.bitebackllc.com/

I used to get eaten alive in the summer - even just going out for about 30 seconds to take the garbage out or take a dog for a quick potty break. Now I hardly get any bites, and the traps are full of hundreds of wrigglers, alive and dead. Looking in them at this time of year provides a remarkable combination of disgust and satisfaction.

I love animals with a very few exceptions. Mosquitoes are at the top of that list.

A small joy in life is capturing a mosquito live, and tossing her into a spiders web.
