GK Studio Saddle
I just looked at my saddle and it's totally square (in cross section). I bought this guitar used a while back. Is this how it is supposed to be on Flamenco guitars or did the previous owner put in a 'blank' I wonder.
If you have a Cordoba GK Studio, is your saddle square (flat) on top - instead of rounded? |

Should not be square. Probably a blank like you suspect.

Good thought. That's funny because that 'someone' would probably be me. I NEVER do anything wrong, but I'll check anyway.

Bingo! That was it. Thanks a bunch. I owe you a slice of pizza.
A few weeks ago I noticed that the guitar sounded muffled - especially the trebles. Wasn't sure why. Then a few days ago I noticed there was no bevel on the sides of the saddle - that's strange. I even tried adjusting the neck relief thinking it was out of wack. Then today i noticed the saddle had a flat top. Bottom line is the saddle must have fallen out when I changed the strings and I put it back in upside down. Flipping it back over brought it back to baseline. I didn't play it plugged in but since it has an under saddle ribbon pickup I bet it would have sounded terrible. I had to look online to see if the tall end of the saddle went under the bass or treble strings. From photos it looks like the tall part of saddle goes under the bass strings. Why is that? Is the magnitude of the vibration of the bass strings greater, so they need more clearance from the fretboard? |
