Cute litle tune. I guess you are on a creative hot streak !?
What about playing this tune on a guitar with a little darker sound ?
Just a thought when I listened to it.

It may be cute but it is a bear to play. What are you listening on. With my studio headphones it sounds about right. On regualr speaker it would be darker sounding if anything. I hate it when things get muddy.

Hi Rick...
Sounds fine on my computer rig! Not muddy...I was more enthralled by the playing than the ''tone''. Wonderful parallel runs!

Nice writing and playing...

Now some facts please...
What guitar?
Recording rig?
Mic used and mic positioning?

Thanks...

Thanks ljguitar. We have a Collings C10 Deluxe, Microtech Gefell M300 mikes, spaced pair out about three feet, Great River pre amp, RME ADI-2, Windows XP, and a litte Sir1010 reverb, no other effects.
Regards, Rick

Hi again Rick...
Thanks for the details (have a small production studio in the basement).

I think you are pretty safe from muddiness with the clarity of the Collings, the small body size and relatively small mic capsule (.62 inch capsule is not going to go overboard in the low-mid department).

That is especially true if you are out 3 feet or so from the guitar (did I interpret that distance right?). I've never heard a muddy Collings, and the small bodied ones have wonderfully clear tone.

Googled something and found one of your other arrangements...nice too.

Beautiful, catchy tune... and well played! I can see why you would call it 'a bear to play'. Rick-slo, my hat's off to you! Nicely done!

ljguitar,
I was not at all worrying about a muddy sound in this recording. I was just responding Bern's post that I do not like too much dark bass sound when it starts to become less defined, especially in faster pieces.

My website has most of my recordings on it:
http://dcoombsguitar.com/

The newest recording on there is called "Peace".
Unbeknownst to me I had a harsh component in my recording chain while recording Apple Juice and I have since been working on relearning and recording some of those songs.

Hi Rick...
Yes, as recording techniques and playing improve, there is an urge in me to re-record a few pieces too.

I remember listening to some of your recordings a while back, and the tone of the new ones is improved. I wouldn't have described your former recordings as harsh, but would say the newer ones are ''fuller''.

Your writing and playing is great!
