Default Headstock Tunner for El Captain

Hi All,

I am a new proud owner of a Blackbird El Captain... thank you Joe & Ted !! Could use some advice on a tunner. Given the unique open headstock my current tuners will not fit or block the tunings pegs. Any suggestions???

Thank you!!!

Chris

Same problem on my X10N with the slotted headstock. I use a D'Addario NS Micro Universal Tuner. Not perfect, but workable.

Chris, one more thought... I just put down my "nylon" Savoy which has become a favorite instrument. If you're up for experiments, it would be interesting to know what would happen if you tried nylon strings on the El Capitan.

I use a couple of Korg Pitchclip mini tuners. The only slot-head guitar I have is a Taylor 522ce 12-fret, but I have no issue finding room on that headstock. The headstock on the X7 is very compact, but that tuner works fine on that, as well.

I don't know if this will fit, did you see the thread on 20% off Stroboclips?

I use the same tuner noted by Strumalot. I slip the tab under the strings just above the nut with the tuner below the headstock (which enables me to put the guitar in the bag or case without removing the tuner). With previous guitars with off-set sound holes I've cut off the clip and used double-edged tape to attach the tuner inside the guitar.

Need to take it off to play though.

Thank you strumalot. I used to use these to and currently have them on my ukes. Unfortunately there is no space on the Captain after the nut and little on the Savoy because of space and the string angle. Good thought...

Hi Evan.. thank you.. unfortunately due to string angle and no space on the captain and little space after the nut on the Savoy.. not really an option.

Thank you .. currently use a similar one on the Savoy.. but the clip does not have a good place to mount on the open slot of the captain....

Thank you Captain Jim... the walls of the open headstock are to thin for mini tuners clip to attach.... but good thought!!!

Thank you.. the clip may have the same problem but could use it plugged into my K&K pickup ... lots of moving parts though.. was hoping for a simpler solution...
