Default Filing nut slots

When filing nut slots, do you make it the same size as the string or a little bit bigger for some clearance? Or, do you create some extra clearance by wiggling the file side-to-side?

A little bigger to prevent strings from binding. How its made bigger depends upon the type of file or saw being used.

I find even an overwide nut slot works perfectly fine, provided the base of the slot is radiused or vee’d and the slot over the nut is angled down to the machine heads.

Personally I try to get it as exact of a size as I can - width wise
