Default Cleaning tweed?

I have a '48 Fender Deluxe in great shape electrically but the lower portion of the tweed case shows its age with water, humidity, mildew stains and and the usual dirt and dust and the marks of a life well lived. Any recommendations for cleaning or refinishing the old tweed?

Hey Rmccamey,

Well....maybe. I had a 57 Champ that was stolen from me back in the 80's. When I got it back, someone had used spray paint (gold ugh) to try and "disguise" it I guess. At any rate, I used naptha to clean the paint off and the tweed didn't seem to suffer any ill effects. Got almost all the paint off save for a few tiny spots. Will it work on mildew? No idea. I still had that champ up until 2016 when it was stolen again. It still looked good.
