Hi Michael. Thanks for the great video.

I used a pair of M300 (loned by Anton Emery) at the exact distance and configuration as you showed with your twelve fret guitar for my forth coming new solo guitar album (out Oct 2nd BTW ) and I was very very happy with them. I had a second pair of mics a little further back... but the final mix is probably 80% Microtech.

I didn’t notice if you did this already, but I think a lot of us would love a sequel to see and hear you talk about your setup just within Logic Pro it’s self. Maybe a screenshot video with voiceover about what compression, eq, verb settings you like etc.

Thirded! Your videos always sound great Michael. Though I am sure most of that is the player and instrument.

Like just about all condenser mics, the mic shows a slight treble rise, but in the case of the Gefell M300 design, the rise is very gradual above about 2 KHz and not peaky at all.

Hi Glenn!

That’s one of the reasons I love the M300’s so hard. The response is pretty much perfect for what I do. It reminds me of the smoothness of vintage 84’s. Very silky.

Actually Eric I should be thanking you for the inspiration all these years! How are you my friend? Good news on the latest album, I can’t wait to hear it!

I’m currently writing album 2 and when the time comes to record I’ll see if I can do some sort of video diary to give you a behind the scenes look.

As for the logic settings, sure I can do that! You may find it’s also very very simple though!

All the best

Thanks Anton! Good to hear you’re loving the M300’s too.

As I said, it’s quality at source that counts and Jason Kostal’s guitars certainly give me that.

Thanks for doing that! I guess the tone is really in the fingers. I expected some post processing in Logic. Your tone on the videos always sounds so warm and smooth.

A touch of compression and a featherlike-process on the EQ ;-)

Thanks for posting your recording process. Seems like a great example of what to focus on: the performance, the instrument, the recording space, the mic setup, and the recording chain. When you get that close to your target sound there isn't much else you have to do.

Thanks for watching Chuck! Like I say, it's an old school approach but it works for me!

Thank you Anton! I'd hope that with each of us the most important link in the chain is our own contact with the instrument
