Default Does anybody else hate those surf-green pickguards

that Fender insists on putting on (usually) Strats? I always replace them with black, tortoise, or white.

Surf green or the very soft mint green that comes on a tele? I love mine on my tele. Didn’t think I would but it is classic!

What's not to like about a mint green (white to look old) pickguard on a Stratocaster. (Black or white tortoiseshell doesn't do it for me but I'm a fanboy when it comes to blue or red tortoiseshell pickguards on a white Stratocaster or a gold anodised pickguard on maybe everything other than sunburst, outside of a straight white or mint green guard).

Each to their own though, of course.

Don't think I'd care for a "surf" green pickguard on any color guitar but the very pale green I usually call "mint" can work a treat.

I replaced the stock white with a mint on my Strat, but can see where the mint won't look good in all cases.

Well, we each have our pet peeves. I was never aware of those surf-green pickguards on Fender Strats before. Now I am.

Surf, mint, whatever. Green is green, and I don't like them. But there's no accounting for taste, right?

This is a SURF GREEN Strat with a MINT GREEN pickguard. Do you see the difference now?

How can you not love this? It’s absolutely classic! It’s like a ‘57 two tone BelAir rolling down the road.

I like the mint green guards. They look less stark than a white guard. Just my opinion of course.

Waters- i cant get this visual out of my head. All I keep seeing is BB King in the passenger side rear with his elbow on the sill, and hot ol’ Kitty with the giant bleached blonde bouffant hair doo wheeling this rig down County Road 405.
The best Ive seen on here in a long time. Thanks for that.

Ha!! Wish I could take credit, but it’s from a ZZ Top song—“I’m bad, I’m nationwide”!

I'm with you. I had a MIM strat, did not like it, the expanse of white plastic just being one complaint.

…very nice but it looks more like a parchment guard than mint green to me….perhaps the green on green softens the effect of the mint green guard but I have a surf green tele with a parchment guard that looks a lot like this strat….
