Any word on what the owner of the offending shop has agreed to?
I reiterate that I would go for the full shebang in terms of restitution. The guitar is no longer whole. It's been damaged. Not only has it been damaged, but the owner of the shop and his repairman insulted you by offering not to charge you for the strap button. A free strap button? I'd have fed it to him...

You did not mention the name of the shop that did this. Personally I would be all over social media advertising what they did, and their careless reaction, as a warning to anyone who in the future might consider doing business with them.
