Default Praise for Taylor 12-fret GC V-class combination

Hello,

My main guitar is a Taylor 312ce 12-fret with V-class bracing. It has more sustain (bracing) as well as more bass (bridge placement) that the 314 I once owned.

Other advantages: the GC body shape with shorter NT neck and slightly reduced scale length makes this guitar extremely comfortable and easy to play. Easy access to upper frets is possible thanks to the cutaway.

In short : the perfect combination for me ! :-)

The 812ce 12-fret I once tried was absolutely stunning but was above my budget.

I think that these GC 12-fretters are Taylor's best models.

Another satisfied Taylor 12-fret owner here ... I purchased my 812ce 12-fret Ltd Edition in 2014 ... it is definitely my favorite fingerstyle guitar ... plays so easy and just has some kind of extra vintage-like tone ... it hits the sweet spot for me ...

522ce 12 fret here. It's a ~2016, so one of the few pre-V class "revoiced" models.

Love everything about it except I wish I got a 522c instead of the CE.

Oh, and I find it a bit uncomfortable when capo'd above the 2nd - I'm 6'2" and I feel a bit cramped once the capo goes on.

Last, to my naked ear, I always feel like the tone is lacking in verve. But when I record the guitar and listen to the recording, I always think "wow, that sounds great!"

I absolutely love my 512e 12 fret, cedar/mahogany has a warm tone with wonderful presence. I like the easy playability of a smaller bodied 12 fret. The Taylor 322s that I have played have always had a nice pleasing tone as well.

Recently acquired 712 12 fret (V braced) to join my 322 12 fret (X braced). Both great sounding and playing instruments, but the 712 is kinda breathtaking.

My 712e is a 2015, so pre-V bracing, but I have absolutely no complaints. Such a comfortable and versatile guitar to play. I sometimes wonder whether I should have held out for a cutaway model, as 10-12th frets can be a bit cramped, but it's made me a better player as I have been forced to look at other voicings of chords elsewhere on the neck.

I was recently in a large high quality guitar store. I tried around 8 different 12 fret guitars of various brands, including one that cost over 6K used. I agree with the OP that the Taylor 12 fretters in the GC size with V bracing sounded and felt the best to play.

Before buying my 312 I played many different small-body 12-fret guitars, like the Lakewood C32, Wee Lowden and Larrivee 000 but for me the Taylor was the better guitar in terms of sound and comfort.
