When I'm in standard tuning, its almost always an E chord, 1st position. Years ago it was the D. I've mellowed

In other tunings its random, anything can happen.

First chord? Plain Jane ol Em. I like Em in songs, but it’s not quite packing what the Am brings.
I feel the same about Bm as you do about Am. They both have that bit of magic to my ears. But for starters, E major and let it ring.

E major - always the first and favorite chord. I always play that chord to hear the bass and ensure the tuning is spot on (in standard). I love the sound of an E chord on a dread.

Ab13, definitely. Or maybe a Db7#9#5.

Or E. E's good too.

It's usually an F barre chord followed by a G barre chord. I dunno why.

First chord I learned was open position C. I kinda thought that's what everyone learned first....

More often than not it's a D chord. If those octave D's don't match all will not be right with the world.

Always this C/G. Not sure how to say it. C add G? Looks like I'm the only one who starts with this chord. Why am I always different?

I always play the lead to Stairway to Heaven just to warm up and then a D.

It seems to change every great once in a while...

Currently, the first "chord" I go to has been an open position Asus9 (A maj chord with the B string open)... I've been working on songs in A and that is a pivotal chord in nearly all of them.

15 years ago, it would have been an open position E major...

G, C & D/D7. First chords when I pick up a guitar.

Em. First chord I learned on a guitar. It is linked to the first song I learned on a guitar. Title of the song is in Spanish (I think).

The words go like this, “I’d rather be a sparrow than a snail. Yes I would, if I could. I surely would...Ooo Ooo”. Anyone knows this song or the title of this song?
