Not in my area, at least not for several years. They're up about $900 or so.

I am a Martin/Gibson owner that is a huge Eastman fan. Mine is a E2om-cd.

Check out some guitars by Washburn, they're fantastic guitars for that price range.

I can vouch for this. I got a used 214 from 2004 (all-solid MIA) for $500 in excellent condition. |

Lots of good suggestions and I would add the Yamaha LS6. Demo below:

will your wife be okay with a full-size dreadnought guitar? does she have small hands/fingers? if a smaller guitar will be more comfortable/suitable for her, i would push you more for the Taylor GS mini guitars. the price breakdown new would be:
spruce/sapele OR all mahogany with no electronics ($499 MSRP) Walnut with tuner/electronics ($649) Koa with tuner/electronics ($799) my wife is petite (<5'2") with small hands and she prefers playing her GS mini Koa over even my Martin and Yamaha full-size guitars for playability. |

This is in the classifieds here (no affiliation). I can't see doing much better for around $600.

Another vote for the Farida. I have one and it is truly an exceptional instrument. It's also different from most of the other guitars in it's price range as it is much more Gibson voiced. Mine is a keeper.

I have explored this price point extensively and here are my recommendations:
Epiphone DR500MCE (best if plugging in) Yamaha AM1 or ACM1 or AR1 or ACR1 Used Taylor 114ce Used Martin Road Series Seagull S6 Original

That Farida looks like an old Gibson LG-2 pretty much exactly.
Best of luck with your search! The question is just how much do you enjoy the process of searching? You can check out the makes and models listed - really great recommendations. And you can check out old guitars, but you have to be comfortable and confident checking them out. I got an old 60's Harmony Sovereign for $300 and it has so much going for it - old tone woods, hide glue, etc.

I’d say a Seagull SWS. You can get new or used for less than $600. Solid wood and QIT electronics. Great value!

I totally agree! Seagull, handcrafted in Canada. Not China!!
