Stand by. Details are in order, here. Still pondering on this end whether to make another Furch attempt. I think I need to simply make peace with larger bodies and lean into the sound. Considering a Stonebridge D with the 43mm nut like someone else I know. I think a non-cutaway G would probably do the trick in terms of the physical volume and character, but they're not exactly growing on trees.

Congrats on the acquisition, though, and we'll look forward to a report soon.

I agree - an elegant solution!

Nice looking guitar. The back almost looks like east Indian Rosewood. That's the first walnut back that I've seen that didn't look like a coffee table.

I like the sound of walnut and now that I have seen yours my interest in walnut is peaked again, Congrats on the new guitar.

Thank you! Yes, the back & sides are gorgeous and certainly do a great job - this guitar is loud!

NGD post coming soon. But for now I want to bask in the glory of Pieterh’s new Twelve String.

Pieterh’s, Look forward to hearing about how the Ibeam sounds with a Furch 12 string

Ha ha so am I, haven’t had a chance to plug it in yet. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know ASAP!

I have the 43mm nut on my Furch OM34sr and I love how it plays, warmly recommended.

The 43 mm nut is rare on the Furch OMs even the vintage line. Was it a custom order, or perhaps you just got lucky with an older one-off build.

The guitar that I just picked up was a new-old stock OM33 SR burst deep body from around 2009. I was told it had a 45 mm nut but it also has the older slightly v shaped neck. It’s strange but if feels more like 43 MM nut. The guitar did need a neck reset, but it was priced accordingly, and being a bolt neck it’s an easy fix. But even before I sent it to the shop it sounded amazing. Should have it back from the shop next week.

I bought it (barely) used but in new condition in Stockholm from a guy who had bought it new in Budapest so I got lucky!

Default NGD Furch 12-string

An update!

I’ve now installed a strap button at the neck heel according to Furch recommendations. I don’t like the balance of a guitar using a strap around the headstock; now it feels right when standing and playing.

I’ve played it through a couple of active speakers to check out the pickup. According to the seller it’s a Baggs IBeam passive. I know I’m not comparing like with like but compared to our three guitars with passive K&K passive Pure Mini pickups it sounds very thin but usable and fairly natural. I usually play through my Tonebone Pz-pre with the piezo boost activated on input 2 that takes the passive pickup (my Taylor with ES2 is my main gigging guitar and goes into input 1). I’m assuming that will boost both the level and the low end. When I’ve given it a try and come back here and update.

Edit: I plugged it in using the Pz-pre this morning. Settings on the preamp were low cut at 80hz, bass and treble more or less at 12 (no cut or boost) with a touch of mid cut. I also played around with the notch filter to smoothen out the mids.

The verdict? Yeah, it’s useable and with a bit of eq at the mixer will be fine. It seems to have that less than ideal piezo-quality though which is unusual for a SBT, and if it was a six-string would be my least favourite amplified (both the ES2 and K&K are way more natural). It is definitely ok though and will be a fine addition to the live lineup - and who knows, if I add a touch of TC Bodyrez it might be great!

Acoustically it’s a gem, lovely to play and extremely well balanced tonally!

Default Nice 12

I have a Furch G25 CRct and it is a beauty - both sonically and great workmanship. Enjoy

I'm "patiently" waiting for my custom Furch 12-string I ordered back in May while in Prague working for the summer. Rainbow Series,,, alpine spruce top, African blackwood B/S, super jumbo, zircote fretboard with paduak inlays and trimmed out to look just like my 2018LTD. I'll have to figure out how to post pics of both when I get it sometime first week of December. Needless to say, I've become a Furch fan for life!!
