Default Vox MV50 - Speaker Output Problem?

I'm pretty sure I have a defective unit, but I'd figure I'd ask here before I take the trouble to send it back.

So, through the headphone jack, I get output, but when I hook up to my 2 x 12, 16 Ohm, cabinet, I get nothing. I currently have the cabinet hooked to a tube amp and I switched back and forth several times to make sure my cabinet wasn't blown or anything and it's not. In fact, all I've been doing is just simply switching the cab output from the tube amp to the MV50 and the input from the tube amp to the MV50. The tube amp works fine and the MV50 outputs absolutely nothing... not even a hum. It's dead silence. In fact, when I unplug it from the MV50 and hold the cable in my hands, I get more or a hum.

Now, I Googled this as well, and if you turn up the volume too much, the amp will cut out for a moment. But, I put the volume on zero, and ever so slowly turn it up until the VU meter is about in the middle and I get absolutely nothing.

Just seeing if anyone else has seen this and fixed it. Like I said, I think it's defective.

I have read about folks having some issues with 16 ohm cabs.

#1 - Make sure your "Eco mode" is off.
#2 - Make sure it's plugged into the RED speaker output jack. Black is headphone out.
#3 - Make sure it's set on 16 ohm.
#4 - Speaker cable, not regular 1/4" cable.

If all the above is correct and no sound - you've got a dud. I have accidentally plugged into the headphone out more than once when i first got mine.

Yes, to 1, 2, and 4 and I've also seen comments about setting it to 16 Ohm, but this is the back of mine:

There is no switch for impedance. I'm pretty sure mine just adjusts to the load.

Is yours the "Clean" head? I have the "Rock" and have had the AC and both had 4. 8 &16 ohm settings.

Sounds to me like you got a bad one.

Maybe this is obvious but you did switch it out of "standby" ?

If yes, then appears as if no signal is reaching the spk. output jack

I suspect he did. On the MV's, that's actually the on/off switch.

Haha. Thanks, but yes... as I said it works through the headphone out with headphones.

Yeah, it's a PITA and a major design flaw - they are killer little heads though.

Yes I understood the HP out, was working. BUT it I did not realize standby was the actual on/off also. So as noted it would then be something from either the pre amp down stream (signal not getting to power amp) , or from the power amp down stream, (signal not getting to speaker jack) depending on how it is wired)
