Default What do you think?

Hello!everybody

Want you all suggestion about the name of my brand.I like the way everybody use the last name for their brand.but if I use my full last name it very long and hard to remember-ex. Sedtaworawanguitars -.the only one can remember and call my last name is Ervin(and he may forgot already).
What do you think?please give me some opinion.

What's in a name? Why did you choose the username Ply?

Why not expand your username a bit from Ply to.... Play. Name your brand Play.

Play Guitars. Perfect no?

Simon.

I think "Ply Guitars" is out. I doubt that would instill confidence in the custom guitar market. How about geographic location? Anything interesting, famous, etc. about your local. That might offer some tradename ideas. Honestly, if you make a quality guitar, stick to a memorable and easy to recall tradename, and market well, you can do well with a very wide range of names. So, make it short, easy to remember, make sure it has some meaning to you personally, and make sure no one else uses it.

Another common tradition is your town name. That's what my name is; from "Sexau" in the southern extreme of Germany, though of course it is myself that is from there, so perhaps my guitars should be "Sexauerer". Then the music played on them could be "Sexauererer" giving me the problem you are dealing with.

How about reversing the letters in the middle of your name?

I have been thinking about this. It really doesn't matter much what you call them, your name is fine. They can always say "that guy with the long unpronounceable name". What matters in this vein is having a logo and/or headstock that is easily recognizable from across the room.

If name mattered that much mine would certainly suck, who would want that on the headstock? And yet things have gone quite well for me. The real trick is doing consistent good work AND having public perception of yourself attached to it.

I agree with what Bruce said, so a logo (a stylized "P") might be nice. However, I also like Playa Guitars (as in Spanish for "beach"). Or, as in "Play-uh" like, "Hey, I'm a play-uh!" I think the "Beach" reference is much nicer than the second reference.

Hey Ply, I personally think your last name will be fine. There's plenty of people that don't know how to pronounce Somogyi, Traugott, even my last name gets mispronounced. Once you get your guitars out there people will catch on to your name/guitars and you will be glad that you used your last name. Just my two cents.
