Default Badeaux guitars?

Has anyone owned/played a Badeaux acoustic? He's a fairly recent luthier from the Houston area who does very nice inlay work. I've seen a couple of his instruments in his or his wife's hands, but know nothing about his player/owner reputation. I'm looking for a mid-priced "working" guitar, small-body, 14-fret neck, cutaway for fingerstyle acoustic blues (with electronics, however). That combination seems a little hard to find among off-the-rack acoustics, so I'm considering a medium-priced BTO.

Thanks,
Bill

I met Bill a few months ago at a luthiers' gathering.
Nice work, fabulous inlay chops.
He was displaying, mostly, his inlay work. But the one playable piece he had sounded great. He works carefully and with a good eye for overall composition.
If you contact him tell him "hi" from me.

Steve

Will do, Steve. I will probably see him in Luckenbach in about 10 days. That's where I met him.

Does he have a website / pictures of his works? I'm always interested to know a local luthier. The only Houston luthier I've found is Shadowfax Guitars.

Not to my knowledge. You could try looking him up, giving him a call?
(Or just head north a couple of hours... )

I don't have any real knowledge of the sound of his guitars, as I only heard his instruments once at the same meeting Steve referenced earlier. His inlay stuff was pretty nice (or at the least one could say "abundant"). Didn't seem like he had built too many instruments, but the ones he had at this meeting (2 personal dreadnoughts I'm pretty sure) were nice.

I do have his number and email, if you would like it, message me. I'm sure he would be ready to hear from any potential customer.

Also, I have played Shadowfax guitars, and Matt's guitars are quite nice, and also might fit what you're looking for (according to your qualifications).

Of course, if you're in East Texas or at least Houston, I can't help but mention Kinnaird Guitars. Feel free to give our guitars a shot, I'll bet you'll like them, but I do hope you like Bill's stuff too.

All this is very helpful. Thanks.

I'm in Horseshoe Bay, near Marble Falls and about 4-1/2 hours from Houston. For playing, I like Taylor sound and action.
