Default Good building book

Hello all. Local guy (South Africa) is getting himself a buitar made by a builder in USA. This has made me pretty keen to get this done for myself but I have decided to do some research to begin with and I want to read up on building a guitar. Suggest to me a good book please.

Definitely the top one that most people are going to suggest. I'm happy with what I did buying a very complete book such as that one and also buying a book with specific plans for building ONE design. Cumpiano's book is very thurough and gives you several ideas of how to do different things.

cumpiano is EXCELLENT and should be among the first three books you buy.

I go back to it regularly, just for a read and a look at the pics!!

Jonathan Kinkeads is good too, with some different ways of doing things and a full size set of plans.......

I've got these two as well, both pretty good for classical & archtop respectively...........

I have these:

http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Repair-.../dp/0525120025
imo there is no better way to build something better then to first find out how to repair one.

http://www.amazon.com/Guitarmaking-T...2032549&sr=1-1
pretty much a must have and really good if you don't have a lot of tooling and have plenty of time.

http://www.amazon.com/Build-Your-Own...2032653&sr=1-3
good also, nice color photos and a different viewpoint on building and finishing. comes with a blue print too.

another must have. esp. the set-up features.

http://www.frets.com
frank is a master and his site is a book in itself -also available on cd

go through this site and look at the build threads and the factory tour photos. also do some you-tube research.

good luck
