Default Saw John Fogerty - he still has "It"

I attended a John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman) and at age 77 he still has the energy to bounce around the stage for two hours and the catalogue to play a non-stop medley of hits.

The band was a group of young guys, including his two sons. The last time I saw him his band consisted of seasoned performers - Kenny Aranoff, Billy Burnette, etc. This band was serviceable, with a couple of outstanding performances on keyboards and saxophone, and young Shane Fogerty can sure trade licks with his Dad on a guitar.

But the show was mostly about John Fogerty's voice, and John Fogerty's guitar. He did not disappoint.

I guess he may have left well over an hour's worth of show-worthy material on the cutting room floor, but you would have never known it until you got home and looked up a discography to find out what he did not play.

Highly recommended for old folks like me.

I regret missing him on his last tour, but watched his family group’s videos and have to agree. What impresses me, is his music stands up in whatever format its played….full stage production, studio, or solo acoustic on Howard Stern show. A full band is nice, but so is one guitar!

I saw him just after he turned 70 and was amazed how great he was, glad to hear he’s still got it. He’s one of my favorites. The first album I bought as a kid was CCR’s Green River.

He's still got it going on!
Did not actually "see" JF a few years ago when he played at Whitewater Amphitheater, but heard the show as his voice echoed through the hills near our home...quite a treat!

I've always loved the guy and I've caught a few youtube clips with him and his kids, those are fun to watch.

He can still bring it...

Some guys are just meant for the long haul. He's one of them

I caught him last year and I was impressed given his age. The dark hair seemed odd, though.

Got to see John at Red Rocks, great band, great time.

He's playing in CO Friday. I looked into tix when they went on sale but prices were "starting at $245"

He's on my Mt. Rushmore. Glad to see he's still kicking it!

Wow. Our ticket prices ranged from $35 to $75 depending on your proximity to the stage and included day of admission into the state fair (normally $20).

That’s pretty reasonable if you ask me.

Really a fine influence for people learning toe-tapping guitar. A notable landmark in the panorama of American music. Even today's teens and kids in their 20s are familiar with CCR tunes (thanks to movies, classic rock radio, Guitar Hero, etc.), great stuff for any beginner at least until he modulates halfway through Lodi, lol.

Besides his straightforward anthems, Fogarty can play some speedy/tricky/acrobatic stuff too. Two-handed tapping up and down the neck and dive-bombing with a locking trem are not necessarily my style, but I was impressed hearing his "newer" skills just a few years ago, noting that he didn't simply remain complacent with the sturdy iconic sound he pioneered over half a century ago.

Yes, John Fogerty is just a ball of energy, and he is quite a guitar player, too!
