Junk Draw!
Attachment 20359
I always say “I’m going to keep this space clean and organized” and this always happens. Bahaha! Time to clean.

You lost me a bit with the inclusion of shoes, but every dude needs a corner. Mine has shrunk quite a bit over the years, but I bought a little caddy for guitar stuff and it has a drawer I can keep my watch, wallet, keys, etc.
I really need to know my wallet and keys are in a consistent location when they're not actually in my pocket. |

Wow, that clutter is amazingly civilized by my messy standards. I had a friend tell me once that she had invested in probably seven books on how to manage clutter but she didn't have time to ever dig them out of the piles of stuff they were under.
As far as my music stuff goes, I have a music room pile, an on-the-mantelpiece living room pile, and a shelf-in-the-bedroom pile. I re-organize and de-clutter them about every month or so. Best, Jayne |

And, for that matter, where's the draw?

You are all killing me! LOL
That desk top was supposed to be strictly for guitar repair and maintenance. What happens is is that every day a little more STUFF ends up on there and then when i need to work on a guitar i see the debris and put off the maintenance. And in all honesty, i was hoping to see your junk piles and then not feel so bad about mine😂🎸 frankie

I grew up with a basement that was a wonderland. It was a long, C-shaped affair with a small machine shop and all sorts of government surplus.
Douglas DC-3 seat pair? Check Jet engine? Check NASA Mercury program range safety officer's control panel? Check Navy nuclear submarine training control panels? Check Hammond tone cabinet? Check And tools everywhere. You see, though my dad had several took chests, his tools lived wherever he last used them. Building a miniature gun carriage for a Napoleon cannon in the middle of the C? There would be saws and screwdrivers and sandpaper and files at the spot. Rebuilding a VW engine at the upper end of the C? There would be wrenches and associated tools there. There were always several projects going in the basement so there were always tools out everywhere. There were two rules: Don't abuse the tools and put them back where you found them. Why that second rule? Because my father remembered where he had put down each and every one of the hundreds of tools he owned. Dad is reading the newspaper and I come in: "Hey dad, I need the metal end nippers!" "Up at the top end of the basement on the wood table under a sheet of aluminum." "Hey dad, where are the wood drill bits?" He thinks for a second: "Middle section of the basement on the bench under a chunk of plywood." "Hey dad, where is the soldering gun?" "Lower end of the basement on the concrete shelf by the DC-3 seats." One day my mom decided it was a disaster, cleaned the place up, grouped his tools in logical order, and put them away. My dad couldn't find ANYTHING. For years he would search for a tool and eventually go out and buy a replacement. When my father died in 2015, I inherited many of those hand tools he'd directed me to over the years, and many duplicates as well! I've still got my eye on the DC-3 seats. Bob

Very cool Mr. Womack. Thank you for sharing that history. Sounds like me and my kids.
