Default Daylight Saving Time Survey

I'm not going to give my opinion, but y'all feel free to discuss y'all's.

If the retirees can keep their gloating to a minimum, that would be awesome.

I'm ok with the switch...in my part of the country, the bounce back and forth eliminates some ridiculously early Summer sunrise times (4am, no thanks, especially because my kids and dog rise with the dawn, no matter what time of year...I like to sleep in OCCASIONALLY!) and some after 8:30am sunrises in the Winter.

And I don't really argue with it staying light out til 8pm "clock time" in the summer. It's nice with kids, keep 'em outside, let 'em run around and be kids.

Martin,
I prefer DST. I dislike coming home in the dark.

And while I’d prefer DST to last all year long, I sense that we’d be sending kids out to wait on school buses in pitch black conditions. But perhaps the real problem there is that the school day starts too early?

I picked the second one. I don't really care which, I just wish we would quit this twice a year switcheroo. My body clock does not do well for several weeks afterward.

This. The whole thing is silly at best.

I love daylight savings time in the spring, summer and fall. I love those long days. And I wouldn't want to have it get light a 3:30AM. Then in late fall and through the winter standard becomes appropriate as it allows the daylight to start earlier. YAY for going back and forth!! Yay Yay Yay! I've even written my congresspeople and senators about this.

I think part of the problem is that some people believe it is broken. I've read a few stats that mention the day after the time change heart attacks and accidents go up.

I voted keep Spring Forward all year long.

From a retiree in Arizona it's a double "don't care either way" vote. We don't play the clock game....

It's just a number, means nothing to me. I get up when the alarm goes off and go to bed when I'm tired.

My wife, on the other hand, can't stand the switching and says it affects her sleeping for weeks each time we switch. I think it's funny but I'm careful not to laugh (out loud, anyway)!

It use to be every location had their own time when they figured the Sun was dead south, it was Noon! Then the railroads wanted standard times to set up their schedules, so the time zones were established. Michigan was way west but they put us in Eastern Time Zone anyway (Even the Upper Peninsula). So if we'd get DST (Central Zone) permanently, it would work out great-------I'm not holding my breath!

I wish they’d just pick one and stick with it. It keeps getting harder to switch back and forth.

IMO, the only reasonable argument in favor of changing times is energy efficiency: you need less energy for lights and heating.

I hate it and think it's stupid.
