Check out this video of her on guitar too:
Sierra Hull is one of the best mandolin players ever. Here's one of my favorite videos of her performing. In this case on octave mandolin. That's a hard tune to play like that on mandolin, but to play it like that on octave mandolin is a whole other level of playing. |

She really is a great musician - both as herself and as a guest collaborator. Saw her live from about 15 feet away in the backroom of a pub a few years back. Only downside of the gig was that she only played mandolin and octave mandolin and no guitar that night. Unfortunately the last tour she has scheduled in the UK (with Rachel Baiman as support) got cancelled due to the unmentionable "C".
Speaking of special guests, anyone going to see Billy Strings at the Van Andel Scramble? Guest list is crazy: sierra, along with Molly Tuttle, Bill Nershi, Duane Trucks, John Mailander, Chris Pandolfi and Mark Lavengood. Nugs is streaming it free for those you in the right timezone. |

Yeah, I generally love her. Saw her some years back (6?) and frankly was dissapointed. She played either an octave mando or an electric mando and was playing jazz. Nothing wrong with that of course, just wasn't my cup of tea as is said.
Going soon to see her soon with her sweetie...looking forward to it. |
