Question Bolt-on Necks from small luthiers?

I know that Taylor is not the only mass guitar manufacturer to use the bolt-on necks, and that they are time and cost saving in the long run when the guitars need a neck re-set.

Question: Are small personalised luthiers also able to make use of such a technology in their building of guitars? And if not, does it mean that they will have do it the conventional way and not be able to help the customer in time and cost savings eventually?

Just an ignorant question from a technical idiot. But thanks.

Collings uses bolt on's as does Kevin Ryan. I think this is an area like tonewood where there will never be a black and white answer. It's all in the ears.....

Besides Collings and Ryan, some really small shop guys use bolt-ons too, like Kinnaird, Baranik and Blanchard.

I believe Goodall uses bolt-on necks as well.

Bourgeois also uses one that's similar to the NT design, in that the neck extends all the way down the fretboard. I'm not sure if Breelove uses a bolt-on, but it wouldn't surprise me.

It is similar to the NT neck but the neck does not extend all the way down the fretboard..it does have a fretboard tenon though. I use the same neck joint....VERY nice.. both the neck and the fingerboard are glued on... lots of small luthiers use bolt on necks, I have not heard any real difference in sound from a bolt on vs a dovetail...

So I'm guessing the only difference is noticed when the neck needs a reset 10 years down the line...and the cost may be a noticable indication. ??

Losts of different opnions on it but yes I think that is the only major feature that affects the end user. I'm not sure what the cost is for a neck reset on a dovetail but I would charge about $100 to do it on a neck like mine (of course I would do my guitars for free as it is a warranty thing)
