Default For Owners of Intellitouch Tuners

I recall some threads about tuners being posted some time ago, and one of the feedback given by Intellitouch Tuner owners was that the tuner was frequently unable to catch the register of the low E string, and it was often registered as a B instead.

I think I have found the solution...you need to pluck that low E string REALLY softly. The problem with many of us is that we have been using tone-based tuners for far too long, and so we are used to plucking the strings hard when we tune them. But since the Intellitouch Tuner catches the vibration of the guitar, we don't have to pluck the strings hard. Just a very gentle pluck, and the tuner can detect the vibration. I have tried this, especially for the low E string, and it works really well. But when I pluck the E hard, it is registered as a B.

I am unsure if many of you already know this; thought I'd share it in case someone gets frustrated and thinks his/her Intellitouch tuner has gone bonkers.

I usually hit the 12-fret harmonic for the low E string. I'll have to try this one...

Softly plucking the low E with your thumb works best... don't use a pick. Also good for tuning the low E to a lower D for dropped D tuning. Same thing when tuning an electric bass.

For one reason of another (I'm not sure why myself), my bass guitarist was tuning his electric bass with my intellitouch tuner and had a problem with the A string instead of the E string. But I can't figure out why. Anyway, with a VERY VERY soft touch of the thumb, the A came out. But he figured that out only after 5 minutes of furious attempts.

Yep, don't use a pick, use your thumb. That's what works for me with the Intellitouch Tuner.
