Default Well, It's Gone...

After some ruminating, I decided to sell the Guild D-55E.

It was a wonderful guitar, but the reality is that I've had it over six months, and I've played it four times. I got it in a trade for a Gibson Firebird, which I bought for $650, and $500 in cash, so I'm definitely not losing money. In fact, I'm not quite doubling my money.

The blue book put the used retail price of it at $1,800 and $2,400. I had it listed at $2,700 without realizing how high that was. A friend who I trust implicitly said he could try to sell it at the Orlando Guitar Show this weekend, but he wouldn't be able to get close to what I'm selling it for.

Nice guitar, though.

Now, where's that link for B&H Photo...?

Ouch!
I remember your thread when you bought it.
I hope you will not regret it.

That is a very nice guitar, I've always like that model. I really don't think I could have done what you were able to do, but then again if your not playing it you were not bonding with it and moving on from it is a lot easer. I hope you are able to find the right one for you.

Nah, I won't.

When I got it, it was on a whim. I had a Firebird that the guy wanted, and he offered up the Guild. He wanted the Firebird and $300. I gave him the Firebird and $500. He was a friend and I wouldn't have felt right taking it with only putting $300 into the deal.

So now I've got a pocket full of cash and don't really have much in mind to spend it on...

Noooo! That was a deal of a lifetime haha
Used D-55s go for $3500-$4500 here in Canada.

Well, you are on AGF I suspect that problem will remedy itself in short order.

My New Hartford Guild F50R doesn't get a lot of play, but that's because I'm usually playing my Guild JF30-12 and F512. I ain't unloading any of 'em!

When I got the Guild, I wasn't really looking for another acoustic, but the deal was just too good. Hell, when I bought the Firebird that got traded towards the Guild I wasn't looking for another electric, but the deal was just too good.

I wasn't playing the guitars I already have. The cash from this sale will probably end up going towards a plane ticket to Denver, so I can take a couple of weeks to photograph Moab, Arches National Park and Garden of The Gods...

Cool! Well then, maybe a travel guitar is in order!

I sold my Guild D-55E several months ago.
It was one of my best guitars but I lost interest in it after the top blistered where I had used an arm rest and then took it off.

I would get upset at what had happened to the guitar every time I played it.
I tried to get it repaired but it came back worse than when I dropped it off for the repair.

I have a friend that was looking for a D-55 and I offered it to him for a fair price with full discloser about the finish problem.
He was happy to get it because he was having a hard time locating one anywhere else at the time.

I also sole 2 other guitars at that same time.
It was time to thin the herd.
I'm now down to 5 acoustic guitars that are all different from each other and all get played often.
