Phil Rizzuto. And Bill White "got" the Scooter perfectly. They were the most entertaining sports broadcast team I've ever heard.

The Hawk and Wimpy were a close second though.

I wasn't in Chicago when he was broadcasting for the Sox, and I don't listen to Cubs games, but I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Harry Caray.

Years ago I had a book that somebody compiled of some of Scooter's words and made them into poems. Unfortunately, I lent it to a colleague and never saw it again, even though he claimed to have returned it. You could always tell when the Yanks were behind because he was always rambling on about something not related to the game.

I know this makes me an old fart, but nobody besides Doc Emerick and Mike Gorman has really made a positive impression on me in the past few years.

NFL: Pat Summerall
Bruins: Bob Wilson (radio)
Red Sox: Ken Coleman (radio)
Celtics: Mike Gorman
Boxing: Gil Clancy

Lastly, I never was a college football fan, but Keith Jackson made me wish I was. The voice of Fall.

Any John Madden fans?

I also like Al Michaels doing NFL broadcasts.

I'm glad someone mentioned Jon Miller (O's, Giants). I was fortunate to hear him for many years doing O's games.

There's a guy in Tallahassee, FL who does the Florida State football games. I absolutely abhor FSU, but I often listen to their games on XM just to hear this guy...truly one of the best: Gene Deckerhoff.

You can still hear Uke doing home games for the Brewers on XM (he's 80+ years old and takes a few innings off during the games...probably napping...but he's still fun to listen to).

The greatest announcer in the history of announcing, of course, is Harry Caray. You missed something if you didn't hear "...a ONE, and a TWO," and sing "TAKE me out to the ballgame..." along with Harry. Furthermore, to draw a parallel to music, he really taught you how to listen since you couldn't understand most of the things he said (or why).

Pat Hughes is also pretty good alongside Ron Coomer.

Ok, I admit it...I'm a lifelong Cubs fan.

(I like that little Irish fellow, Mr. Feherty and, despite all the patrons buried at Augusta, I enjoyed Gary McCord.)

(also, for years I turned down the volume on the TV and listened to Sonny Jurgenson, Sam Huff, and Frank Herzog doing the "Redskins" on the radio.)

I'm an SF Giants fan, so I'm biased towards Mike Krukow, Duane Kuiper, and John Miller.

I grew up a Cubs fan in Chicago, and one of my favorites on TV was Jack Brickhouse. Moved to KC when I was 11, the KC A's had one called Monte Moore who went with the team to Oakland, and then the Royals had a great broadcast team of Denny Mathews and Frank White.

Nationally, I always love Pat Summeral's minimalistic approach to NFL football. He let the action talk.

One who gets little mention but everyone probably remembers as a great all around broadcaster, who famously called a couple of golf's memorable moments, 1986 when Jack holed the putt on 17 in the Masters (YES SIR!) and when Tiger holed out his impossible chip on 16 in the Masters in 2005 I believe against Chris DeMarco, "In your LIFE....", Verne Lundquist
