Bob Seger's Night Moves intro...
Obviously it probably doesn't matter that much which F and G chord form one uses for the intro, but for years I played the intro with a barre chord G and barre chord F to C with a G bass added on the 6th string for an cowboy C chord.
Just noticed where someone instead plays the four finger open G chord, also the C cowboy chord with the G bass note added on the 6th string, but for the F chord an F cowboy chord form with a C bass added. No barre chords. This sounds better to me than the way I've been playing. I will say after being set in my ways playing it with mostly barre chords it is a little tricky to change. That said, switching from the F with the C bass to the C with the G bass is technically easier as the form is similar. How do others here play it?

Well, I have fooled around with it in different ways, including your original barre form approach. I think that sounds okay, with the exception of the barre C chord. I think the C chord sounds better as an open string basic C shape with the addition of the 6th string G note.
But I gave up playing it in G, as my voice is not Bob Seeger's, and I was screeching in that key. I now play it in D, which is much more suitable for me. I use open chord shapes. Sometimes I add to the D chord by fretting the 6th string second fret (F#).

Good idea, I always use a capo and sometimes find it gets in the way

Looks like Bob plays it the way you describe with the 4 finger G, etc.
