Wow, that's a great looking group. I'd love to hear or see a sound comparison video or clip.

Thanks. Will see what I can do about the sound clip...

Thanks. I suggested to Dave at Rainsong that they rename the Tobacco Burst as Copper Burst. In person under natural light, it's less orangey and more copper IMO, especially the darker outer aspects...

I think of it as more like a Gibson 'heritage cherry burst' (and my Nashville is almost definitely a copy of the Gibson 'vintage burst'). In either case, I like 'em!

Phil

PS: after my X20 fan-fret gets here (supposed to be Tuesday but, well, you know...) I'll try to get a photo of mine, 2 amber Emeralds (both fan frets) and the two bursted Rainsongs.

That looks like it would be tough to choose what to play, perfect!

It seemed like you were buying a new Emerald pretty much every month there for a while. Just out of curiosity, how many Emeralds did you buy and sell before you decided to go all-Rainsong?

That’s a great lineup! I would love to try the Vintage dread at some point.

Well, time gets compressed in my old head. Congratulations on a fine group of guitars! May you play them happily for many years...

True dat. It's been quite a journey, but I sense I'm very close to the end of it. I put together the following overview of the things I've learned on my "guitar journey"...

1) Although I'm not an electric player, per se, the mood sometimes strikes me; and it makes sense to hold onto a Strat and Fender amp no matter how little I play it.

2) Regardless of public outcry to the contrary, my favorite tone and playability for wooden guitars are the Taylors that Andy Powers tweaked just after his arrival on the scene around 2013-2015.

3) My cabin in the woods is not well suited to wooden guitars so carbon fiber guitars are a sine qua non.

4) My carbon fiber guitars of preference are Rainsongs due to more traditional design, tone and playability.

5) My tonal preference is for larger body guitars, and I could probably be very content with just my jumbo six and 12-string Rainsongs.

6) I prefer black tuning knobs to chrome ones.

7) I like to own a six string and 12-string guitar for different songs and variety.

8) I prefer acoustic guitars without cutaway or electronics.

So, to answer the OP's question, I think I've finally reached a point of guitar contentment....

RP, since you've owned both Emerald and Rainsong, any quick thoughts on why you prefer Rainsong? Was it primarily ergonomic, or tonal, or something else?

Living 10 miles from the Rainsong factory in Woodinville, it is possible to actually find a few in the area to try. Not so with Emerald!
