Default Does your significant other know your guitars?

I know they are not acoustic guitars, but I thought it was funny:

My non-live-in girlfriend mentioned the other day the time when I thought about selling my wooden guitars and owning just carbon fiber ones. The reference was my ideas that seem out there and never come to pass...

She's good! I left when the pedals came on.

My wife knows more about my stuff than she lets on, and I think she'd know the woods and the shapes, but not the model numbers (doubt that she'd know my bass guitars - don' got no 'lectric solids or semis.

Maybe I'll get a couple bottles of prosecco and test her!

My wife knows, but doesn’t care. I talk a lot about guitars to her and she’s sweet enough to listen.

Whoa! This woman knows a lot about guitars! Mine only knows when there's one she hasn't seen before.

Not really, except that the McIlroy is the "loud one."

When I was talking about yet another guitar, my wife mentioned she should start herself a food processor collection... I stopped talking about the guitar.

Mine knows nothing and could care less...the only thing she recognizes is the amount of money that is going out of her bank account...that she will comment on from time to time

Vaguely. She would probably not notice if one were missing, might if a new one showed up. She is familiar with the names of the makers and have even met some of them, but probably could not match them to the guitar. When I talk guitars, she listens but cares no more about them than I do about her orchids.

That said, I never notice if a flower is gone or added and I listen when she talks about them. We each have our passions.

Thankfully, no. But to paraphrase a saying known to fishermen regarding their gear, I have a recurring nightmare that if I die my wife will sell my guitars for what I told her I paid for them!

Not really, but I do have a J-45 made in the year my eldest son was born, and an L-00 Standard made in the year my younger son was born.

So, they'll get those guitars when they are old enough, and I labelled them so she would know that in case anything ever happened to me.

I labelled all my acoustics so she would be able to sell them in such event.

let's change the topic to other half -

My husband does not play guitar at all, but enjoys my playing and going to music stores with me. He can tell the difference in sound between my archtop De Luxe and my Texan even without really looking at the guitars. Also he can tell the differences in tones from certain guitars when I go to music stores and look at guitars. So yes.

The HD 28 she knows because it is a “relocation” present she bought for me. She doesn’t really know the others although she doesn’t care that there’s a bunch of them.
