Am I strange? Admiring your guitars after playing them
Hi guys,
After practicing I prop the guitar I'm using up on the couch, step back and admire it's beauty before putting it back in the case. Maybe give the soundhole a sniff for good measure too. It's a form of appreciation for what I'm lucky enough to have. Am I the only one who does this? |

Hey Doug,
There's so much to admire and love about acoustic guitars. Their beauty, and the artistry and craftsmanship involved in building them, are things to admire. So, yes, I also like to give them an extra look! |

I can relate Doug. I am in awe of my axe of choice.

Oh yeah! There is something about a well-made acoustic guitar that deserves admiration. I can't imagine doing that for, say, a tuba.

Sometimes I forget to take in the beauty of my guitars. Other times I'm in awe-of both aesthetics and the craftsmanship which created them. It just depends where my head is on any given day.
They are beautiful critters, each with their own personality.

Other than the sniffing part, I’m with you. Sometimes I just pause in my playing and smile because I’m in awe of the sweet tone my guitars are capable of. Not to mention the superb craftsmanship Collings is rightly known for. I’m a blessed guy indeed…

Not really weird at all...I like just having guitars out and about. They make any room better.

haha.
The general spirit of this thread resonates. It is a wonderful thing to stop and take a minute to notice the things one finds beautiful in life. Awe is a wonderful thing to feel. |

I have always wanted a sunburst acoustic. Last year I finally found it. A sunburst D-18GE. I can't help but stop and look at it before and after playing it.

Well, we know of a hockey goaler who used to talk to the poles of his goal...
If your guitar was the holly grail tribute ending a quest, why not stare, sniff, talk to it ?! As far as you do not feel depressed when you do not see it...

101% in agreement. If only my wife would let me add more guitar art - it's some of the prettiest stuff we have

Sounds familiar
When I taught motorcycling for 15 yrs students always asked what bike should they buy. I would tell them there are lots of good bikes out there but you know you have the right one when you park to go into a restaurant and you have to turn and look at it a couple times before you enter |

I'm the same way. I never pull my guitar out of its case without giving it a once over to admire its beauty. I feel lucky and grateful to have the instrument I have -- it surely exceeds my abilities (which I'm fine with BTW).

I am in awe of my OOO18. How does that simple modest guitar sound so perfect to my ears.......I ponder this.
