Do you know if he has lost his vocal range yet? That is so often the case of older ones like him. Paul McCartney and Neil Young are two examples that come to mind that I would like to see but are, unfortunately, past it in the vocal ranges.

I'd put Paul Simon in that category as well. It's like watching a Hall of Famer at the end of their career.

I'll tell my one Don Mclean story:

I saw him in Philadelphia in the late 70s. He was in the middle of playing American Pie when his string broke. He soldiered on and finished the 7+ minute song. When he was done he told the audience he felt they were cheated so he restrung the broken string and did American Pie all over again.

He also has a model girlfriend that's about 40 years younger than he is.

He must have some $ left over after his $10M divorce settlement.

This was almost 10 years ago - I saw Paul Simon and Brian Wilson at a concert. Simon is an icon, but his voice was going even then.

With Brian Wilson, they didn't quite wheel him out, but decades of psychiatric medication have taken their toll. He sat at a keyboard, which may or may not have been plugged in, sang his lines from a teleprompter, rarely talked between songs....and when he did, he sounded like Bill Murray in Caddyshack.

That being said, Brian had the good sense to put together a band called the Wondermints. Brian sings the main part, but these guys do all the heavy lifting. These guys sing as well as the original BB's....and play as good as the Wrecking Crew ever did on the records.

The singer who seems immune to age to me is Mick Jagger. The guy amazes me, the way he struts around the stage and still belts 'em out with the best of them.

The only thing I know from Don McClean is ''American Pie'' and I've always liked it. What songs should I look for on my Amazon prime Music app?

I think I saw that his girlfriend is 50 years younger. He is about 74 and she is 24. I used to like him, but has he done anything since American Pie, Vincent, etc.? Seems like he was popular and and a flurry of hits then disappeared.

Huh! you must be one of the younger fellahs!

Ol' Andy (Aged 70!)

Here's a video of him singing , probably about a year ago when he was only 72. Perhaps a little less vocal sustain (I know all about that!) but more nuance in his singing, and if anything a bit better.
