I WILL say this. To know that it's been going on since about 2014 (?) and my 7-year-old guitar AND 2-year-old guitar also has the issue...idk folks, 8-10 years is enough time to fix this problem, and at this point it's pretty unacceptable.

Yep, my 2013 has started to separate at the lower waist. The guitar rarely gets played and lives in its case with proper humidity, so it’s disheartening to see it deteriorate on its own like that. I’ve been back and forth on it for years now, I should probably just sell it.

I'm amazed at how often this topic comes up on the forum, and I feel for owners who pay good money for a brand new guitar only to have it end up with this binding issue. And then to find out the warranty won't cover it, or you get the run-around for so long that you end up paying out of pocket? What?!
Just out of curiosity, what's the average cost for such a repair? |

I know my old 39 authentic d-28 was completely oversprayed after the repairs . is was not even a month old when it was sent in for binding issues .A year later it was done and returned to the store where I told them it was Martins guitar. Not mine. Refund was in order. 8000 bucks at that time.

Great post, well put. I've sold off my Martin's after reading too many horror stories of folk over here being left high and dry by Martin. |

It is a very long list though :0 Recently bought and sold a 00-17 Authentic. No binding to fall off on those. Phenomenal sound but that neck defeated me. I like a chunky neck but that was hectic. Perfect storm of 1 7/8" nut, wide fingerboard and neck heft. |

But of course the ones that fingerpickers made famous are the fairly unobtainable mid 1930s paddle heads with 1 3/4” nut and 2 1/4” approx bridge space over C neck, scalloped braces, no binding to fall off! I joke that Jackson Browne bought them all but it may not be far from the truth.... But so, there are Martins and Martins! BluesKing777. |
