Default Fingerstyle bliss on a Webber Baritone

Found a lovely new companion recently, looking forward to writing new material on this guitar but for now here's a quick cover of Lance Allen's "Just Thoughts"
- a nice, melodic and mellow tune in standard tuning. No EQ or effects, just some Neumann KM-184's into a Zoom Q8!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

That sounded really nice, Dustin. The tone of a baritone is tempting

Very nice - after 42 years of playing, I just picked up a Lakewood Bari as well.

It's been a lot of fun so far.

Now if I could just play like you!

Wonderful song and playing. Love the tonal trick at the end...changing tuning on the 2nd string during the sustain of the last note. Never seen that before - do you have a name for it? (Instead of a tremolo...is this a Furlow-lo? )

Will probably upload more! I found that stringing it with plain mediums and having it in D standard is also nice as well...dropping down to C. Has a bit more clarity. This clip is in B

I'd love to play a Lakewood Bari, what is the scale length?

haha! Its just something I do for fun sometime...alternatively if you're in the key off G you can hit the 7th fret harmonic of your b-string and bring it up a half step to a high G...I do that occasionally as well.

It's 26.8.....the best part - 1 7/8 nut and 2 3/8 saddle, so with the heavy gauge (I'm using 59-14 EJ18's tuned D-D currently) it feels a lot like our favorite nut and saddle spacing on a standard 6 string.

I never knew the true meaning of "lap piano" until got this one playing like I want it - just a few days ago. Never in my life did I think I'd enjoy a 17" lower bout with almost 5" depth (4 7/8) so much. Has very nice clarity. Crazy thing is earlier today I put a set of EJ16's on it and brought it up to E-E and it sounded wonderful that way as well....maybe even better!

I'll get a recording up soon.

Nice piece and I always prefer natural recording without artifice. It's just beautiful as well

Would love to hear it brother. Thats funny what you said about changing up the gauges, mine is 27" so I keep it D-D Standard as well but with EJ17, I forgot there were EJ18's! Im gonna buy some and try tuning lower now.

I do too, 9 times out of ten. Thanks for the feedback Remy, hope you're well.

And I've got some EJ17's coming to play around with too. I'm finishing up the final setup (and pickup removal) as I type, so the recording will probably be next weekend, but I'll tell you my thoughts on changing out strings and the tonal changes it brings.

Cool man, I'll likely have a new video up with the Webber soon as well. Thanks for reminding me about the Heavy gauges. They're still less thick than actual EXP Baritone strings so there ought to be some flexibility still!
