Okay, I did the final test. I put all my tracks mastered with LANDR on a cd and played it on my truck's sound system....My music never sounded better. Just perfect, I couldn't find one issue with any of it. It all sounded great !!

After hearing this test cd, I'm totally sold on LANDR, and highly recommend it.

Sorry but those NS-10's are only good for boat anchors.

mm, i thought of an invention for you last night.

a new line of audio gear, desks, chairs, etc, all wrapped in rockwool.

so as you equip your mini-studio, you are also soundproofing it!

Well again this track sounds loud, not nuanced, and very sibilant, which perhaps is what you are looking for. Certainly not a type of "mastering" that would get me at all interested in LANDR.

Like you, MM, I'm no pro at all and am constantly trying to learn how to do better recordings. Doug Young, Alohachris, Fran Guidry, rick-slo, and others have been very generous with their advice and what I generally hear from them is to keep the whole recording process relatively simple, to learn how to really listen to the mics as they relate to proper mic placement, and to not overprocess the track. LANDR seems like it is applying a lot of modifications that maybe don't need to be there, which on an acoustic track might be less than desirable.

Well in my case, I'm overwhelmed by the mastering plug-ins in Audition and Sonar....so many knobs, so little time. LANDR makes it simple for me and sounds good enough for Tunecore. Compared to the lousy tracks I made back in the 70's, this is great !!

Since my work is strictly solo instrumental, there is no pressing need for much. I don't use compression at all, and instead simply have focused on setting up a good space in which to record (huge sound difference once I built my Fran Guidry screens) and then becoming a better recording guitarist by really concentrating on things such as tone, touch, volume control, lowering pick and breath noise. I also have solely concentrated on learning more about EQ to control unwanted noises (through hi-pass filtering and surgical EQ) and to give small tonal boosts where needed, for example adding a little hi end sparkle if needed or rolling of some tubby low-miss (I use a Pultec emulation which allows for neat combinations of boosting and attenuating).

Relative to what the pros here do, this is very simple stuff.....but I ain't no pro! In the end, it still seems better to trust my ears over a software package and what little bit I glean from my efforts and, more importantly, my many mistakes is slowly adding up to make me a better "producer" of music than I was in years past. And learning more about recording in fact has made me a better player....

why don't you see what you can do without LANDR, just with your software? seems like a good learning experience even if you always use LANDR anyway.

I have tried my hand at using the stuff in Audition and Sonar, and it comes out okay, but LANDR sounds better to my ears. I'm not trying to win any Grammies for sound production here, just want it good enough for Tunecore.

Another one of the problems I was running into, was my monitor situation. My old speakers sounded like mush. Maybe it was a phase problem, but when I'd try to adjust the EQ, not much would happen and I'd end up over compensating...as you may know, last week I got my Yamaha HS8 monitors, which make a world of difference.

I listened to one of my tracks that I used to like on the old speakers, on the HS8's...world of difference, it sounded horrible. The piano sample just cuts right thru you, making the track totally unusable. I tried mastering with LANDR, EQ'ing it myself, nothing would help that track.

Do you still have the old project/session file ? If so then just remix it using the new monitors
